VE3PRV Site

The amateur radio equipment installation. The cabinet holds the VHF cavies for the VE3PRV repeater. The VE3PRV repeater is above the VHF Cavies.

Above the VE3PRV repeater is the VE3PRV-10 RMS Gateway for Winlink operation. There is a large commercial power supply and the VHF FM transceiver for the gateway on 145.030 MHz. There is a SignaLink USB modem located on top of a mini-computer. The Minicomputer operates the Winlink software for Packet Winlink and Winlink VARA operations. Internet access is required for access to the Winlink CMS (Central Message System) to upload/retrieve messages.

Outside the Amateur radio 19 in rack cabinet are two tuned VHF Cavies for use by the Winlink VE3PRV-10 RMS gateway on 145.030 MHz. The RMS gateway also operates as a VARA FM Digipeater VE3PRV-4. VARA FM (in registered versions) can support up to two (2) digipeater relays.
For example, from Ottawa, I can connect using my VE3SMF home station using VARA FM on 145.030 MHz and use the VE3PRV-4 digipeater on 145.030 MHz, to connect back to the VE3SMF-10 RMS gateway on 145.030 MHz to send Winlink traffic into the Winlink CMS.
